■ My Alarm is beeping, what do I do?
The only piece of equipment installed that would beep is the keypad.
Go to the keypad and see if there are any messages or if you hear any sound. If the sound is not coming from the keypad but from another location – it is not your Alarm System.
Most likely it is smoke or carbon monoxide detector.
Any detector that is wired to a 120VAC household current still has a backup battery in it – that’s what may be beeping.
Any Smoke or Carbon Monoxide detectors installed by Banner do not beep.
■ Where is my Control Panel?
When the system was installed a letter was provided stating where the Control Panel is located. The Control Panel is a beige metal box (generally 16”x16”). Locations will vary. Make sure you have the key and know where it is.
■ Where is my Transformer?
When the system was installed a letter was provided stating where the Transformer is located. The transformer is generally beige. If the transformer has been replaced it could possibly be white. (Older systems, before 2000, Transformer could be black.)
A Transformer looks like a rechargeable vacuum plug and will have wires attached.
Generally the Transformer is located in a basement outlet.
BUT, it can be located anywhere. Note the location of this device for your knowledge.
■ My phone isn’t working; what do I do?
Go to your Control Panel, unplug the RJ31x cord (either in the panel or mounted on the side) and check your phone.
- If your phone comes back, after you unplugged the RJ31x, than the problem is with the Control Panel. At this point, call Banner Alarm.
- If your phone does not come back, after you unplugged the RJ31x, than the problem is with the phone company.
Call your phone service provider.
■ My Keypad has no lights and is not beeping, what do I do?
Most likely you just lost power. Locate your Transformer and make sure it is plugged in. If the Transformer is plugged in, unplug it – plug in a light or a radio to make sure the outlet is working. If the outlet is not working: check your circuit breaker or call an electrician.
If your: Outlet is working, the Transformer is plugged and the keypad is still unresponsive, call Banner.
■ I don’t have a solid green light on the keypad, what do I do?
Make sure all windows and doors are tightly closed.
For example:
Casement windows : can be closed and not locked and the are the alarm is not making contact.
Double Hung windows: Sometimes, when you open the window, the top window drops and it’s not realized. At that point the top of the window is not connected to the alarm and you will not get a light.
